K-Electric starts working on 150 MW Solar Power Project in Lasbela, Balochistan after a long delay. The project start was planned to be started months back but was delayed for a number of reasons.

The K-Electric project is part of the plan to shift to renewable energy in the upcoming years and reduce dependence on the fossil fuels energy.

Balochistan has huge opportunities for developing renewable energy projects, especially solar energy projects because of the areas and the exposure to sunlight for long durations during the day.

The Solar power projects were delayed for a number of reasons.

  1. Investors in solar power projects have had serious concern over the delays of the solar equipment imports by the central bank.
  2. These import caused delay issues were taken up in a meeting National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) held with small and large solar power project owners, especially those who were working in Balochistan.
  3. The solar projects investment representatives had raised conserns that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had blocked equipment imports for solar energy projects.
  4. The import restrictions cased the projects delay by months and now the project is started.

Alternative Energy Development Board, Pakistan is working on different Renewable Energy projects to reduce the dependance on Fossil Fuels energy and move towards solar, wind and other modes of energy generation.
