For the forthcoming Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, the Indian TV network Star Sports has opted not to air its controversial “mauka mauka” commercial series. The broadcasters take full advantage of the fact that the explosive match between the two countries always draws millions of viewers by airing numerous commercials for the event. The “mauka mauka” campaign, which enjoyed a great deal of popularity in India, is one example of such advertising.

India was playing this ad to embarrass Pakistan of their continuous losses against India. Pakistan responded in style to it and had a one sided match win against India in the T20 world cup match. India was outplayed in all three areas of the game and therefore lacked a response to a motivated Pakistan headed by Babar Azam. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan easily chased down the objective after Shaheen Afridi simply dispatched the Indian openers.

Originally, the commercial was made in advance of Pakistan and India’s 2015 ICC World Cup match as Star Sports made fun of Pakistan for their dismal performance versus India in major competitions. The broadcasters were so impressed by the one-off advertisement’s incredible success that they decided to convert it into a series.

The “mauka mauka” advertising, according to reports in Cricket Pakistan, was created to alert the Men in Green about their forgettable World Cup record against India, where the 1992 world champions have failed to win even one match. According to the report, the advertising will no longer be aired because it is no longer relevant in light of India’s 10-wicket defeat to the Babar Azam-led team in the T20 World Cup in Dubai last year.

The two teams may play each other again on September 4 in the Super 4s after their group stage match on August 28 at the Dubai International Stadium between arch rivals India and Pakistan.

The broadcasters have chosen not to continue the promotion, though, given India lost to the Men in Green in the previous meeting between the two teams in an embarrassing fashion. In the 2021 T20 World Cup match, Pakistan dominated India and silenced their detractors with a record 10-wicket victory.
